The SYNTHESYS+ Management Team is pleased to announce the dates for the SYNTHESYS+ Access programme. For the first time ever, this year there will be two types of Access: Trasnational Access (TA) and Virtual Access (VA). Each Access format has different dates and offers different resources to researchers.
Call 2 of SYNTHESYS+ Transnational Access opens on 13 January 2020 and closes on 26 March, 2020 (17:00 UK time).
The TA programme offers researchers:
• Funds to support a researcher's travel, accommodation, & subsistence, whilst they complete a short research visit at any one of our TA participating organisations.
• Access to collection(s), equipment and other research infrastructure(s) named in their proposal.
• If essential to the project, and named in the proposal, assistance and training from on-site staff.
• Feedback on all proposals which are not chosen for funding by a User Selection Panel (USP) of collections experts.
All awarded visits must take place within 12 months of results being announced.
Call 1 of Virtual Access will open for Proposals on 20 February 2020. Proposers must contact relevant VA Coordinator(s) by 2 April 2020. The Call closes 30 April 2020, 17.00 UK time.
19 SYNTHESYS+ partners are preparing to offer Virtual Access (VA) to their collections. Researching a collection often requires being physically present in the collection itself. Virtual Access aims to remove the reliance on physical access and trial an industry-first 'Digitisation on Demand' (DoD) model.
There will be two VA Calls in SYNTHESYS+, each with a total budget of €500,000. All proposals to Virtual Access will be reviewed by our VA prioritisation panel. Projects will be funded where the resulting open data will provide a broad benefit to the European Research Community (ERC) and contribute to addressing Societal Challenges.
